The much anticipated Gangubai Kathiawadi trailer is out. The trailer chronicles the journey of Alia Bhatt, a sex worker, essaying the titular role, who grows up in Kamathipura. With over three minutes, Alia Bhatt makes a striking and lasting impression which shows her journey as taking charge as a matriarch and brothel owner.
Directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali, the trailer shows the rise of Alia Bhatt questioning the patriarchal society. It gives us a glimpse that it is not merely the life of a sex worker, but her fight for sex workers life and their children.
Alia Bhatt looks indomitable and fearless and yet exudes a charm. The BGM accentuates the narrative. Apart from Alia Bhatt, one gets to see Ajay Devgn essaying a vital role too. The film is inspired by a real-life incident which is an adaptation of Mafia Queens of Mumbai.
Alia Bhatt has often been portrayed as a glam doll. However, the actress with her powerful demeanor in Gangubai Kathiawadi makes it striking. The film is all set for theatrical release on February 25.
