This year 2020 is certainly is female director Sudha Kongara‘s year who delivered three films in a row in a year namely a full-fledged movie with a star hero and contributing a story each for the two Tamil anthology films on Netflix.
Her latest story ‘Thangam’ in the Tamil anthology ‘Paavai Kadhaigal‘ has been receiving rave reviews for the way she handled the subject of transgender acceptance and inter-caste marriage woven into an alarming and brilliantly said narrative.
The first hit this year for Sudha Kongara came in the form of her another anthology story ‘Ilamai Idho Idho’ in ‘Putham Pudhu Kaalai’ was a pleasant breather and it was a surprise as she explored a different genre that she didn’t touch yet.
Above all, she could handle a star hero like ‘Suriya’ breaking all the myths that female directors can only make family-oriented and love-related subjects with only small-time actors. She delivered the biggest blockbuster of 2020 giving a huge respite for Suriya’s fans after several years.
So, this year belongs to content-oriented stories and Sudha Kongara turned a hattrick director springing surprises with the choice of the contents that have been broadening both the audiences’ and the director’s horizons. Great going, indeed!
