May 11th, 2012 is an unforgettable day for all Powerstar Pawan Kalyan fans. No wonder they celebrate the movie anniversary like never before, every year. On the occasion of the eighth year of Gabbar Singh, the fans have made it the biggest trend ever on social media with over 10 million tweets.
Director Harish Shankar had earlier exclaimed that it is like the release day, all over again. Well, anyone going through his timeline would definitely feel that way. Such is the response from the fans and also movie lovers.
Usually, it would be a moment of celebration, but this time there is a difference as a new movie in the combination of Pawan Kalyan and Harish Shankar has been confirmed. If the festival atmosphere is anything to go by the expectation of the film would be humongous.
It is, therefore, increasing pressure on director Harish Shankar, no doubt. The movie will most likely hit cinemas as Gabbar Singh would be celebrating its tenth year. What it also means is a repeat of a similar scenario like the past. Pawan Kalyan hasn’t had a genuine hit post Atharintiki Daredi in 2013. It will be nearly a decade when the second flick with Harish Shankar hits cinemas.
Ideally, a Gabbar Singh sequel would have done the trick, but that opportunity is lost, now. Similarly, the trend of formulaic entertainers featuring star hero is giving diminishing returns. Under these scenarios, it will be a task cut out for Harish Shankar.
Harish Shankar has to come up with a fresh entertainer that is not a mere repetition of Gabbar Singh. In that case, it would give an impression of it being a decade, too late. And yet, he has to provide all the fan-pleasing stuff. The balancing with quality and entertainment, intact should be the secret to success.
