Direct to OTT releases were ever so prevalent during the pandemic. But now that cinema halls are reopened, direct to OTT releases have become a rarity. But after a long gap, a mainstream Telugu film is heading the direct to OTT way.
Going into the story, young Telugu hero, Nikhil and creative filmmaker Sudheer Varma’s film, which was announced last October is heading the direct to OTT way.
As confirmed by our sources close to the unit, this as yet untitled film, which marks the third collaboration between Nikhil and Sudheer is skipping theatrical release. The makers are said to be in advanced talks with a couple of top OTT platforms as they look to seal the deal. As of now, ZEE5 is said to be in pole position to orchestrate direct to OTT release, but nothing is official for now.
Nikhil and Sudheer previously collaborated for Swamy Ra Ra and Keshava. The said film is their third collaboration.
It has been quite a while since a mainstream Telugu film headed the OTT way and the Nikhil starrer might well be the first film to do so in the recent past.
