ED Summons Aishwarya RaiFormer beauty queen, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan has been summoned by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) on December 20 in connection with the Panama Papers leak case that created uproar back in 2016. The ED has registered a case in connection with the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA).

However, Aishwarya Rai will not be recording any statement as her plea for adjournment got accepted. For the unversed, she has sought adjournment two times before. Apart from Aishwarya Rai, Amitabh Bachchan and several other prominent faces from different domains worldwide have been named in this infamous Panama Papers leak.

Panama Papers first came to light in 2016 which revealed the financial details of over 214,488 offshore entities. It was regulated by Panamanian offshore law firm Mossack Fonseca who made these documents. In 2018, the company stated that it would shut down its operations due to the damage they have incurred citing Panama Papers.
