dussehra-2022-tollywood-box-office-godfather-ghost-swathi-muthyamDasara 2022 saw three films releasing at the Telugu box office. Two biggies and a small film had released but no film managed to bring festival happiness to the trade making it a disappointing Dasara.

The Disappointment:

Megastar Chiranjeevi’s Godfather had a decent first weekend thanks to Dasara holidays impact and fans connecting to Chiranjeevi’s swag. The real test for the film begins today i.e., first working Monday.

As things appear, the decent performance of the movie is not going to be enough to cross the line. The movie is likely to end up around 20 Crore short of its breakeven target despite fair talk and reviews. The wait seems to be still on for Chiranjeevi and fans.

At the US Box Office, Godfather has posted One Million Dollars gross in the six days weekend. Though it is an ordinary number for a star like Chiranjeevi, second week run is important to post a decent number. Ideally, GodFather should have crossed $1.5 million by now and marching towards $2 Million. We’ll know by end of this week where it lands.

The Hopeless:

King Nagarjuna’s The Ghost managed to create some buzz before the release but failed to show that right from the openings. The advances are disappointing and once the talk and reviews came out, the situation turned worse and the movie is headed towards another biggest disaster in Nagarjuna’s career.

At the US Box Office, It has collected a mere $121K in six days, a number that is so far from being respectful.

The Non-starter:

Bellamkonda Ganesh’s debut film, Swathimuthyam got decent reviews but the audience never really showed any interest in the film. The movie had to vacate many theaters during the holidays and barely registered any shares in any area.

At the US Box Office, the movie raked $46K which do not even cover the release expenses. It is the biggest disaster for Sitara Entertainments, the most happening banner of Tollywood.
