Dual role trend is back

Aside from all the influencing action scenes, melodrama, punch dialogues and extravagant music, one of the most significant thing in the Indian film industry, especially Tollywood, was the trend of having the hero play a ‘double role’. And now it seems as if Tollywood is all set to bring back two times the drama to the spectators.

Despite the fact that there is a lot of speculations about Ram Charan’s new thriller, which apparently has the actor portraying a ‘double role’, the most recent news is that Nani will also be essaying two characters in his forthcoming entertainer, ‘Jenda Pai Kapiraju’ under the direction of Samudrakhani. Nani will perform two distinct roles in the film, romancing Amala Paul alongside.

In the south cinema, the audience who adore and respect the actors can never get enough of them and a double role according to them is definitely double the fun. “When a star actor is playing a dual role, naturally, there is much more curiosity amongst the exhibitors, distributors and fans. And filmmakers want to cash in on this mania,” says Bhimaneni Srinivas Rao.

Agreeing with the above statement, well-known producer MS Raju said that, “I witnessed this rise in interest and impact when I produced Police Lock Up with Vijay Shanti in a dual role. The film went on to generate huge revenues. The distributors were able to rake in the moolah as people were curious to see the actress sharing screen space with herself.” Looks like the Tollywood fans must be eagerly looking forward to the release date of Ram Charan’s action entertainer.
