There is a turmoil between the OTT and the exhibitors of the Telugu film industry after Amazon Prime Video’s Tuck Jagadish is said to be arriving the same day as Naga Chaitanya’s Love Story. Exhibitors are angry because Tuck Jagadish may jeopardize the prospects of Love Story which is trying to help the box office flourish.
Amazon is holding the cards close to its chest by not announcing the release date.
Meanwhile, Disney + Hotstar has thrown a surprise by announcing Nithin’s Maestro for the September 9th release. That means Love Story will have a competition for the festive weekend irrespective of what Amazon does with Tuck Jagadish.
In all probability, Love Story will back off and look for another date. The movie will now lose its festival advantage but then, it looks like the makers can find two corporate giants.
This is the first time the OTT is looking to come in the way theaters business worsening the fears of the theater system.
Kangana Ranaut’s Thalaivi is also announced for September 10th release in theaters. The movie is also releasing in Telugu along with Tamil and Hindi languages. The movie is also likely to be hit with this competition from theaters.
