mahesh babu aagadu ntr rabhasa ram charan gav

Five big films released in the first half of the year and four among those managed to be success at box office making the first half of the year a good one trade wise. Similarly four big movies were slated to release in the second half of the year and the trade had pretty high expectations from these even bigger than the first half but the end result after all the releases has been disastrous.

It all started with Rabhasa starring Jr NTR. The film which released for Vinayaka Chavithi was expected to open the season with a bang but the reverse happened and the film tanked big time at the box office. It was followed by Power that opened to positive talk, unfortunately it couldn’t sustain it as another biggie was closely releasing on its heels.

The third big release Aagadu starring superstar Mahesh Babu, was also inarguably the biggest and most anticipated release of the year. Unfortunately it failed to live up to its hype and emerged as one of the biggest disasters of all time rivaling another such disaster from the star earlier in the year. With GAV it finally looked like the disastrous run would come to an end but it went the Power way by rocking the weekend courtesy of the holidays and sliding big afterwards. It has escaped the disastrous fate but it would still not be the earner that would put smile on the distributors face.

Overall all these biggies disappointed at the box office with their performance and have made the second half of the year a complete nightmare for distributors. Now it is up to the small films to make up for them but will they?
