Director Kept Chiranjeevi Waiting For 3 MonthsBack in 1996, Chiranjeevi and Ram Gopal Varma came together for a project but things did not go smoothly and the much-anticipated project was shelved right in the early stages. Here is the real reason why the project did not materialize.

RGV, who was busy with Daud, a Hindi film starring Sanjay Dutt had to alter his plans after Dutt had to go to jail for violating Weapons and Arms Act. Varma then acted quickly and conceptualised a project with Megastar Chiranjeevi. Ashwini Dutt came on board to produce the film.

Soon after the first schedule of Chiranjeevi-RGV film was wrapped up, incidentally, Sanjay Dutt was released on bail. Varma then requested Ashwini Dutt to permit him to complete the remaining shoot of Daud. The controversial filmmaker assured he would be back in action for the Chiranjeevi starrer immediately after completing Daud.

After consulting Chiranjeevi and receiving his nod, Ashwini Dutt allowed Varma to go work on Daud. This is when things started to slip out of hand. Varma kept postponing his project with Chiranjeevi, citing logistical reasons.

Chiranjeevi patiently waited for three months for Varma to return, but that did not happen. Vexed with Varma’s unprofessional behaviour, Chiranjeevi called off the project. At that point in time, both Chiranjeevi and RGV were at the peak of their careers. A project marking their collaboration was eagerly anticipated by Telugu cinema followers, but that wasn’t to be.
