Karunakaran’s 1998 blockbuster ‘Tholi Prema’ starring Pawan Kalyan and Keerthi Reddy in the lead is still his best movie. Since then, the director seems to be in the hangover of the movie and unable to come out of it. His next movies that followed are a big evidence which shouts about that hangover.
All his later films had the same flavour but couldn’t repeat the same magic, again. Now, he is doing a breezy love story with Sai Dharam Tej. He will be playing the boy next door kind of role and to be frank, he would be repeating Pawan Kalyan of ‘Tholi Prema’.
In this age, when new concepts and out-of-the-box ideas from the young directors are ruling the roost, will Karunakaran’s formula work? Can he bring out freshness and originality in the script he had penned or will we get to see the same formula he had been showing us, again and again? Let’s wait and see.
