Director H Vinoth emerged as a promising talent with the Theeran Adhigaaram Ondru (Khakee in Telugu), but his next film Valimai was an utter disappointment.
Now he is teaming up with Ajith again for Thunivu. During a recent interview, Vinoth talked about how collections are manipulated to show a greener picture in the industry.
He said, “Box office collection manipulation has become a form of survival in Social Media. But you can’t stop it as they do it for survival.” He added that the same film will have different collections if it is released during a festival period Vs. a non-holiday weekend. He says, “Despite its initial mixed talk, Valimai is the All-time No.1 Grossing Tamil movie released in the month of February. But no one talks about it.”
Talking about his Sankranthi release Thunivu, he said, “There are a lot of talks about Thunivu on social media and the industry, but all of them are far from the truth. It is a multi-genre film that cannot be confined to one genre. Simply put, Thunivu is a game of villains.”
He concluded by saying, “The film has everything that the audience likes to see. Don’t go by the speculations on social media. Wait for the kind of songs and the trailer we will release. Then decide. We have learned from the mistakes of Valimai.”
Thhunnivu is also aiming for Sankranthi 2023 and will give fierce competition in Tamil Nadu to Varisu whereas in the Telugu states there’s not much buzz about the film.
