At one point in time, there was tremendous competition among the stars to deliver bigger blockbusters in Tamil. Especially Rajinikanth and Kamal Haasan gave each other tough competition during the 90s and 2000s.
But now both have become senior heroes, and they are not in the stardom race. It is between Thalapathy Vijay and Thala Ajith now to take the box office battle forward.
Ajith is not living up to expectations because of his poor choice of films. All his last few films turned out to be damp squibs. Vivegam, Valimai, and now Thunivu have left even his hardcore fans disappointed.
Due to these continuous failures, people have no choice but to watch even the mediocre films of Vijay, and it has become a one-horse race in Tamil Nadu.
In a competition, if your rival isn’t delivering anything solid, then you also will not be under any pressure to deliver something extraordinary. In a box office battle, there should always be a one-upmanship to help their stardom and even the industry grow.
But sadly, Ajith is making things too easy for Vijay by delivering films that have no appeal or relevance to any section of the audience.
