For the past few days, the Telugu film industry is revolving around Dil Raju and his production V. The action-thriller features Nani and Sudheer Babu in the lead. Mohan Krishna Indraganti directs the movie.
The point of discussion is V and its release on the OTT platform. It is a done deal, and V is expected to arrive in the first week of September. So far, it is all good. But, there is a widespread talk in the industry that cinema halls in India will open from the first week of September, as well.
That’s where the confusion arises in the industry. If the movies are ready to hit the screens in the first week of September why is Dil Raju opting for a digital release for his biggie? Is Dil Raju confused and creating confusion in the process?
Well, as they say, the devil lies in the details, and that is where the mastermind of Dil Raju comes to fore. The star producer has apparently locked deal in such a way that it allows for a theatrical release to his movie. However, it will be ‘after’ the ‘digital release’.
What it means is that V will first have a digital release and if the cinemas get opened as per the buzz, it will also have a theatrical release.
The crucial detail here is that the figure for digital rights that is doing the rounds currently is for a ‘digital-debut’ of the movie. If that is not that case, V would be getting the usual price reserved for post-theatrical films.
So, Dil Raju pockets a handsome figure for V for a digital release, and then he will have theatrical release immediately, as well. He knows that even if cinemas are opened, they won’t immediately be flocked due to lack of fresh content.
And even if new movies are released, one is not sure of the immediate reception. Dil Raju gets to observe the scenario and then hit his film in cinemas all over.
