Adipurush starring Rebel Star Prabhas has become the talk of the town with its announcement. It is another massive epic in the making from the director of Tanhaji, Om Raut.
However, did you know that Prabhas was not the first choice for the movie? Om Raut was flooded with offers soon after his film Tanhaji: The Unsung Warrior turned out to be a blockbuster. What is officially announced now is one of those projects. But, when the buzz about it initially surfaced, Bollywood hunk Hrithik Roshan was sought after as the lead.
Yes, Hrithik Roshan was the first choice of the director Om Raut. The actor, however, did not commit to the movie and said that he needs time to decide. Om Raut later began talks with another young hero (for a different project), but, finally returned to Adipurush with Prabhas.
What one needs to understand here is that Om Raut is not the only one making a Ramayan adaptation. Nitesh Tiwari of Dangal and Chhichhore fame is also locked for the epic retelling. It is the reason why the makers did not announce Adipurush immediately as a Ramayan adaptation.
Incidentally, Nitesh Tiwari also has Hrithik Roshan in mind and approached him. Hrithik did not give his nod this project, too. One can, however, make out why he could be confused as to which one to pick. While he was ‘undecided’ Prabhas grabbed the opportunity presented to him.
Both the stars are well suited for the parts of Lord Rama or any mythological characters for that matter. Let’s see how Prabhas makes use of this once in a lifetime kind of opportunity. At the same time, one should keep an eye if the other Ramayan adaptation also gets made or not.
