dhruva-poor-pr-golden-opportunity-lost-by-ram-charan-in-usRam Charan is currently in the US for a multi-city tour as part of the promotion of the film Dhruva. In the past we had written was this trip going to be any use and the numbers on the first day make us question the same thing again?

Dhruva has so far collected $460k which is decent for Charan starrer. But looking at the trend Dhruva won’t reach ‘Million’ mark by the first weekend. If one looks at “facts” the premiere numbers are actually less than even Bruce Lee and Ram Charan didn’t do any premiere rounds for the film. It goes to show that even without his presence the movie would have collected similarly and with good reviews a Million would have been achieved by the second weekend.

But the star has come and special shows have been arranged. In hindsight, we now think that Charan and his PR team have missed a golden opportunity in creating a bigger buzz that would also have been trendsetting. Instead of organizing a red carpet premiere for photo-op (there is hardly any promotion for it either), a live red carpet premiere event would have created a killer buzz both in India and the US.

What Ram Charan did now was done by Mahesh Babu almost a decade ago with Sainikudu. So much has changed in these ten years and technology has improved by leaps and bounds. A live red carpet premiere would have been sensational. We are sure another big film must have already started a thought on similar lines. The excitement for an event of this type would have been bigger resulting in bigger numbers with such good reviews and talk. Today, the trip is only restricted to the city the star visited with the rest being completely unaware.
