debit cards hacking in telanganaIn the last month, few account holders of Telangana state syndicate bank lost lakhs of rupees from their accounts as a database hack or a massive cloning of debit cards is suspected. 22 of such account holders belong to Secunderabad.

The bank officials are in touch with the National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) in order to find out what went wrong. The number of people who lost money is expected to increase the bank officials or the police were yet to establish how the debit card details were stolen.

The criminals have withdrew money from ATM centers indicating that cloning of cards happened since the original cards were with the account holders. However no suspicious activity is found from the CCTV footage of the ATMs.
