Christmas is festival time and of course, a few new releases in theatres and several releasing directly on OTT platforms. Among the theatrical releases on 25th December, there is an interesting movie and that’s the biopic on yesteryear soft-porn star Shakeela, titled after her name.
Shakeela‘s biopic is going to be interesting as it would be the first pan-Indian movie to be released in the theatres after the gap that came due to the pandemic while others are either regional movies or else, web series and shows on OTT besides a Bollywood movie with stars.
‘Shakeela’ will have releases in four different South Indian languages aka Telugu, Tamil, Malayalam and Kannada including the Hindi version of the biopic, the fifth one. So, it’s left to see if the content of the movie is intriguing enough to pull the audiences to the theatres.
In Telugu, we have ‘Solo Brathuke So Better’ and his Bollywood, there is a big movie ‘Coolie No’ starring Varun Dhawan and Sara Ali Khan coming for this Christmas. However, ‘Shakeela’ is a curious case for the trade to catch the pan-Indian pulse of the audiences during this COVID season.
