Last week had been the deciding one for the co-director of Bollywood movie ‘Peepli Live’ who was convicted for raping an American Woman who came to India for reasearch and sought his help for her research for her doctoral thesis.
Finally, the court has declared the punishment for the rapist. He was sentenced 7 years in jail by a lower court in Delhi. Mahmood Farooqui is the husband of female director Anusha Rizvi of ‘Peepli Live’ produced under Aamir Khan Home banner.
In addition to the jail term, the co-director has to pay Rs.50,000 fine and if he fails to do so, he would have to spend an extra 3 months in jail. The police asked for life imprisonment for the accused but the court decided upon 7 years of jail for Mahmood Farooqui.
