Cinema Theaters and Multiplexes across the country are shut down and are registering Zero Revenues for obvious reasons. The losses are unimaginable. Since most of the theaters are multiplexes are rental properties, they are urging the landlords and malls for rental and maintenance waivers.
Things will not be normal for them even after the Lockdown is relaxed as people are expected to stay away from crowded places. Multiplexes and Cinema Theaters are mulling the introduction of social distancing at the ticket-booking level to inspire confidence in the patrons after the Lockdown.
For a month or two after the Lockdown, tickets can be booked leaving one seat beside every seat. If you book two tickets, the Cinemas will leave one between the two. Even though that means losses to the theater owners, there is nothing they can do. Sanitation measures are also to be implemented strictly.
This will also mean fewer collections for all those in the cinema trade right from the theaters to distributors and producers.
