chiranjeevi--sanjaydut

Several people of the industry have spoken out in support of Dutt who was sentenced to a five year prison term when the Supreme Court found him guilty of having an illegal possession of an AK-56 rifle. Latest in line is the legendary actor and Union Minister for Tourism K. Chiranjeevi who on Wednesday stated that since actor Sanjay Dutt has “suffered a lot,” he should be given mercy.

He further told the reporters that Sanjay is essentially a nice person and truly regrets what he has done. Chiranjeevi stated that his sympathies are with Dutt and he will pray for him from the bottom of his heart.

Other members of film fraternity and politicians who have spoke in favour of Sutt include like former Samajwadi Party leader Amar Singh and actor-turned-politician Jaya Prada. Other than that, Press Council of India chairperson Markandey Katju also sought pardon on humanitarian grounds for the actor.
