Chiru & Nag: Good Idea, Bad ExecutionSenior stars Chiranjeevi and Nagarjuna are clashing at the box office this Dasara holiday season. Both their films GodFather and The Ghost are set for release on the 5th of October.

Incidentally, both the heroes have pinned pan-India hopes on their projects. GodFather has Bollywood superstar Salman Khan in an important role. As for Nagarjuna, he was recently seen in Bollywood biggie Bramhastra so he would have some visibility in the Hindi belt.

But the problem here is that neither Chiru nor Nag are going particularly aggressively when it comes to Hindi promotions. In fact, they haven’t even started the promotions in the Hindi belt yet.

When it is announced that a film is getting a pan-India release, it is common for everyone to expect the lead stars to step out to promote the film in the Hindi belt. But that’s not happening with GodFather and The Ghost.

Incidentally, a small hero, Nikhil aggressively promoted Karthikeya 2 in Hindi belt and the film then went on to return excellent revenues in the Hindi market. But despite having the resources Chiru and Naga are taking it easy.

The box office performance of these films in the Hindi belt will determine whether or not it is fruitful to release non-serious or non-big event films in Hindi. So, there’s a lot riding on these two.
