Megastr ChiranjeeviChiranjeevi, who made his comeback to Tollywood with Khaidi No. 150, the Telugu remake of Vijay’s Kaththi seems to have caught the ‘remake’ bug.

The senior hero recently took Godfather, the Telugu remake of Lucifer onto the floors. He had also announced Bhola Shankar, the Telugu remake of Vedhalam a week or so ago.

If reports are to go by, Chiranjeevi is eyeing yet another remake. It is heard that he is close to materialising the Telugu remake of Ajith’s Yennai Arindhaal. Apparently, either Maruthi or Venky Kudumula will direct this project.

The fact that Chiranjeevi is almost entirely depending on remakes is leaving even his fans displeased.

While remakes might be regarded as safe bets, they take away the originality and excitement factor. That too, Chiranjeevi is remaking only noted films from other languages.

Many of Telugu OTT audience would have watched Lucifer on Amazon Prime Video already. As for Yennai Arindhal, the film was dubbed and released in Telugu as Yentavadu Gaani. While a few might have watched the film in theaters, many would have watched it on TV.

As for Vedhalam, the film is a typical brother-sister sentimental drama, that didn’t get the best of responses in Tamil either. Now, it is being remade in Telugu with Chiranjeevi and Keerthy Suresh in pivotal roles and Meher Ramesh at the helm.

Chiranjeevi’s film with Bobby which attained good buzz with the massy first look poster is the only original film in Chiru’s line-up, barring Acharya.

It needs to be said that even Chiranjeevi’s fans are not able to digest his remake-heavy line-up.
