The theatrical trailer of Nithiin’s upcoming film Check is out. It presents the actor in a whole new set up and the world than his usual family-based rom-com.
Check also marks the return of creative Chandra Sekhar Yeleti in director’s chair after a long gap. The good news is that he still seems to have got an A-game on. The writing is where it scores at least based on the trailer.
Right from the announcement, Check promised something different. The trailer lives up to those expectations. The chess backdrop seems to be neatly integrated into the narrative and not just a gimmick. The other angles involving terrorism and drama, add further curiosity.
The casting looks neat with Nithiin trying his best for a makeover. He is still the same, but it is nonetheless good to see him do something out of his comfort zone. Rakul Preet Singh seems to have got a meaty role. Priya Prakash Varrier is a nice addition.
There is also a surprise regarding the release date at the end. Check will now hit the cinemas on February 26th instead of the previously announced February 19th. We have to see what changes it brings on other movies as a few more have locked the same date.
