Chamber: Hide OTT Platform in Title CardsAfter extensive discussions and meetings with producers, stakeholders, and third parties related to the film industry, the Telugu Film Chamber of Commerce has decided that a minimum eight-week theatrical window is a must for every film.

And no OTT/digital/satellite partner names should be mentioned before the start of any film in the theaters. The streaming partner’s name also shouldn’t be seen anywhere on the film’s promotional material.

This can be considered a good decision because as soon as the name of the OTT platform is seen on any poster or promotional material, some of the audience kinda makes up their mind to watch it later on the streaming platform instead of visiting the theaters.

This new rule can influence the psyche of the audience to remove that OTT thing from their mind and make them watch the movies only in theaters.

Some are of the opinion that what’s the point in hiding OTT Partner names during starting credits when streaming isn’t allowed before 8 weeks? What difference will it make if the name of Amazon, Netflix, or Hotstar is displayed at the beginning of any film?

On the contrary, the OTT platforms might not agree to this rule as they will want some visibility about the film coming on their platform when they buy its rights. So hiding their name from all publicity material means they will have to do separate publicity during the film’s OTT premiere, which might add burden on them.
