Chiranjeevi - Acharya - Rana Dagaubbati - Virata ParvamSummer is a huge season for Tollywood, where several big-ticket and other noteworthy films will be released. This year too, several big films are geared up to release, along with other medium budget and noteworthy films. Megastar’s Acharya and Rana Daggubati’s Virata Parvam are two of these.

Both of these films have some connection to Maoists/Naxals and showcases them in a sympathetic, and allegedly positive light. With the recent Naxal attacks on CRPF in Chattisgarh, the Anti-Terrorism Forum has submitted a letter to the Central Board of Film Certification in Hyderabad, requesting the board to not clear Acharya and Virata Parvam.

On the other hand, fans are saying that Acharya and Virata Parvam are two pieces of fiction, which have been made for the purpose of entertainment, and should be looked at in that way only. Those against the depiction of Naxals in a positive light are saying that cinema has a great potential to influence people for the good, which is why such films should not be encouraged.

The Censor board hasn’t yet responded to this request. On the other hand, it is now to be seen how the producers of these films will react to this request, and what conclusion will be made at the end.
