There had been a lot of drama over the release of film Vishwaroopam earlier in the year. Following up on the issue, it has now come to light that several cinema owners and associations which includes the Tamil Nadu Theatre Owners Association may have to shell out a heavy penalty for the apparent restriction of release of Kamal Haasan’s spy thriller movie, Vishwaroopam on DTH.
In this regard, the Competition Commission of India (CCI), had earlier ordered a search into the matter following a complaint by Kamal Haasan. The commission has now received a report from its director-general of investigation and official sources have said that they are likely to pass a decision against the cinema associations soon.
The official also said that the DG report of the investigation has found enough confirmation supporting the complaint and as a result the commission may soon pass an order.
