A case was registered against cine heroine Rambha in Banjara Hills Police Station by her sister-in-law Pallavi. Pallavi alleged Rambha and her brother Srinivas of harassing her for more dowry. Pallavi who is in Chennai filed a complaint that since her marriage to Srinivas in 2009, she has been harassed in the family and been threatened by both Rambha and her brother for extra dowry. There is active involvement of Rambha regarding the dowry harassment she accuses.
According to Pallavi, Rambha and her brother used to harass her continuously demanding extra dowry. Hence Banjara Hills police registered the case under section 498-A for dowry harassment. At present Rambha is unavailable for comment as she is reportedly in Dubai and once she is availanle, police are going to record her statement regarding dowry harassment. If a case is booked under section 498-A, whoever, being the husband or the relative of the husband of a woman, subjects such woman to cruelty shall be punished with imprisonment for a term which may extend to three years and shall also be liable to fine.
