The all-important week for Telugu cinema has arrived. The wait for a couple of years for Prabhas’s fans ends in a few days from now. Rebel Star Prabhas’s Saaho is all set to release with a bang on the upcoming Friday. August 30th.
The bookings, wherever they have opened, show the hysteria that is about to be unleashed at the Indian box office. While everyone will look forward to the records, here is something else that is at stake and only Saaho can achieve or at least it has the best possibility.
It is regarding the highest grosser of the year pan-India. So far, in the more than 100 years of Indian cinema, an Indian film has always been the year’s top grosser. Most of the times, it has been a Hindi film, but there are occasions when Southern movies too occupied the slot.
However, for the first time in the history of Indian cinema, a dubbed Hollywood flick is the top-grossing movie of the year. No prizes for guessing, it is Avengers: Endgame. The Hollywood movie has grossed a little less than 500 Cr, including all languages and is currently at the top.
Four big films including Saaho are slated to release for the rest of the year. But, among them Saaho has the best chance to topple Avengers: Endgame. Also, if that happens Rebel Star Prabhas will be achieving the feat for the third time after Baahubali 1 and 2. It will be an amazing and sensational feat if Saaho manages that.
