Can 'Drishyam' repeat success in other languages too?
Superstar Mohanlal-starrer Malayalam thriller “Drishyam”, celebrated its 50-day run in cinemas on Thursday. It has emerged as the biggest hit in Malayalam filmdom. The film has so far minted over Rs. 35 crore at the box-office. It was reportedly made on a budget of Rs. 4.5 crore.

A tautly made thriller, the film revolves around the efforts of a father to cover up a murder committed by his family. “Drishyam” will soon be remade in Tamil with Kamal Haasan and starring Daggubati Venkatesh in Telugu. While Jeethu Joseph, who directed the original, will helm the Tamil remake, while actor-filmmaker Sripriya will direct the Telugu version.

Now, the million dollar question is whether the film can as successful in other languages as well. The reason being several remakes in the past have failed to live up to the expectations of the original. Will that fate continue for this genuinely good film too?
