Brahmotsavam-maheshbabu-sets-fakenessBefore everyone gets their nasty minds at work the fakeness here is not at all related to collections what many might instantly imagine. What we are talking about is the fake looking visuals that draw us out of story rather than involve us into it.

In Brahmotsavam we have an interesting backdrop in the form of Vijayawada. It is an interesting choice especially when we look at films starring big heroes. Very rarely do we see those films set in these parts. However the entire fun is killed when we look at the scenes set in Vijayawada in the film. The poor visual effects make the fakeness so obvious that we never connect with what’s going on the screens. One wonder what made the unit to go for VFX when the city is not far to go and shoot just those few scenes.

This isn’t the first instance we see many films in Telugu where such visual effects ruin the whole purpose setting in fresh locations. It feels like it’s done for namesake with no genuine love at all. On the other hand we can see in Tamil movies how they portray the ‘real’ locations as real as possible on screen and those locations bring a unique texture to the film. Very few filmmakers are able to get this right in Telugu and thereby giving fake vibes to the films. Let’s hope our filmmakers also master this art sooner rather than later.
