Telugu cinema is making some bold movies within the rom-com space. Boyfriend For Hire is another addition to the list. It looks like a typical rom-com, but it comes with a whacky out of the box core idea.
The title itself is a giveaway. It is about a guy who starts a new business of becoming a ‘boyfriend’. Various girls hire him to be his boyfriend for a certain period. What happens when he is hired for a year seems to be the basic plot based on the teaser. There could be more here, but we have to wait for a trailer to know that.
Viswant perfectly fits the bill for a regular boyfriend without any ‘heroic’ gimmicks. It is vital to have such a persona for the character with confidence. Viswant looks alright on both counts from the glimpses we get. Malavika Satheesan looks fine.
Boyfriend For Hire also seems to have decent technical values for small scale production. The music by Gopi Sundar looks impressive. Santosh Kambhampati could have a winner in his hands if he gets the blends of comedy and drama right and in equal measures.
