Liquor shops licenses will expire by June-end and those present on the National highways have to relocate to about 500 meters to 1 km away from the highways.

The new excise policy is being brought in by a directive of the Supreme Court which prohibits presence of liquor shops on the highways. The new policy is likely to be brought out in July. Of course, the drivers can still go Of course, go off the highway for about half-a-km and get their drinks, but at least they will not be readily available with out any hassles.

Drinking habit in drivers is one of the prime reasons for accidents on Highways. The new move will be more easy if the state government plans of canceling the License system and running state owned liquor shops has its way. However the idea is still at a nascent stage.
