Eid has always been synonymous with blockbusters like Dabanng, Chennai Express, and Kick in Bollywood. But since the last few years, the EID releases have disappointed. Especially Salman Khan films like Race 3, Bharat, and Tubelight underperformed. However, these films opened decently and had some sort of a run.
But EID 2022 has turned out to be disastrous. Ajay Devgn‘s Runway 34 and Tiger Shroff’s Heropanti 2 have been released this Friday. Both the films opened to shocking low collections of 10-15% all over, and the evening shows haven’t picked up much due to poor word of mouth.
The trade circles predict that Runway 34 will collect around 4-5 crores and Heropanti 2 will gross 8-9 crores. Both the films will not cross the single digit. KGF 2 is all set to dominate the new releases even in its third week.
Bollywood is already going through doldrums as big-budget films like Bachchhan Paandey, Jersey, 83 turned out to be disasters, and the EID releases don’t look any different unless there is some miraculous turnaround.
This is going to be the darkest and dullest EID for Bollywood, and the future also looks bleak unless Aamir Khan’s Laal Singh Chaddha or Ranbir Kapoor’s Brahmastra turn the tide for Bollywood.
