There is a clash not only at the Telugu box office but also in Tamil. In fact, in Tamil, it is on a different level as both the production houses and fans are going all out for their respective star films.
Petta starts Superstar Rajinikanth, and Viswasam has Ajith in the lead. Both are mass ventures but with a different approach in the presentation. However, the ultimate aim is the celebration of the star at the centre. For Karthik Subbaraj, director of Petta, it is the biggest film of his career. As far as Siva is considered it is his fourth with Ajith and is made at a moderate budget.
The screenings for both Petta and Viswasam have been split across the A centres. The difference comes in the B and C centres and the Overseas. In the former areas Viswasam is leading comfortably whereas, in the latter market, Petta is way ahead. Overall, both the films are likely to share the opening day honours with Viswasam being the Tamil Nadu topper while Petta emerges as the unanimous winner worldwide.
