Tollywood has finally come out of the dreadful slump that had bloomed a layer of helplessness as every new release had been bombing at the box office.
Bimbisara has opened on a fantastic note as it reached the breakeven mark in its opening weekend itself. Sita Ramam has also done well in the first weekend.
Now, the onus is on Nikhil and Nithiin to carry forward the much needed positive momentum that was set in motion by Bimbisara and Sita Ramam.
Nithiin’s Macherla Niyojakavargam is up for release on the 12th of this month and Nikhil’s Karthikeya 2 is up for release on 13th.
Macherla promises to be a mass actioner, a genre that has proven to be relatively successful in the post Covid era. As for Karthikeya 2, the film has the sequel advantage and it has a loyal viewer base advantage. It is a suspense thriller, which caters to a sizeable section of the audience.
As of now, there is a positive josh in the industry and also around these two films. So, if they can carry forward the momentum, it would add to the positive reverberation Tollywood has garnered. But if things go south, they will have to face the blame of rattling the industry again after a hit weekend(Bimbisara and Sita Ramam).
The industry is really hopeful that Macherla and Karthikeya 2 will build on the positivity.
