ZEE5 is not too proactive when it comes to orchestrating quick OTT releases. Very rarely do they give 4 week OTT releases to their films. They often delay it.
Interestingly enough, ZEE5 is doing the same with two box office hits that they’ve acquired – Bimbisara and Karthikeya 2.
Both Bimbisara and Karthikeya 2 were box office super hits and they have the potential to attract the Telugu OTT audience as well.
Sita Ramam, which released in theatres at almost the same time as Bimbisara and Kartikeya 2 has already arrived on Amazon Prime Video and it is making a lot of noise.
But for some reason, ZEE5 is taking it easy when it comes to Bimbisara and Karthikeya 2. They should instead be looking to cash in on these films while they are still fresh in the minds of the audience.
Bimbisara is a fantastical action thriller and Karthikeya 2 is a suspense thriller. Both have the potential to attract the OTT crowd. The onus is now on ZEE5 to orchestrate the earliest possible OTT releases for these two films.
