For the past many months, Bollywood has been going through a lean phase as many of the films released post-pandemic failed to create any impact at the box office. Only Gangubai Kathiawadi and Sooryavanshi could make some noise.
Established stars like Akshay Kumar, Ranveer Singh, Shahid Kapoor, Salman Khan, Tiger Shroff, and Ajay Devgn struggled miserably to even give a 5 crore opening.
But there has been an unexpected comeback from Bollywood as Kartik Aaryan’s Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 released today which is expected to witness an opening of Rs 13 to 15 crore on its first day which is phenomenal in these challenging times.
As per the trade reports, the film has opened to strong word of mouth and has high chances of bringing back some of the audience back to the theaters. The occupancies of BB2 are better than even RRR at many places but the ticket prices are 25% less than that film.
Kartik Aaryan’s performance and comic timing are being appreciated big time by critics and audiences in this medium-budget horror comedy. Kiara Advani’s glamor and director Anees Bazmee’s taking are among the other plus points for the film.
On the flip side, controversial actress Kangana Ranaut’s action dhamaka, Dhaakad also had a theatrical release today. Opened to poor reports, trade sources say that the film’s first day collections might not even touch Rs 1 crore which will be a huge setback for the actress who hails herself as the Queen of Bollywood.
