Bangarraju King Nagarjuna’s Bangarraju despite no competition did not make much noise at the box office in the second week of its release. The movie’s run has effectively ended. Thanks to the Sankranthi push and zero interference from the Government, the movie got in Andhra Pradesh, it has ended up as a profitable venture for the buyers in AP.

The movie talk was not up to the mark but the festival advantage and AP Government delaying the night curfew and 50% occupancy helped the movie big time. The buyers elsewhere have lost heavily. The underperformance of the movie in Nizam right from day one shocked everyone. It was a non-starter Overseas as well ROI.

The weekend curfews and other COVID restrictions there made things worse in the ROI. The overall recovery of the film is around 80% making the movie an average fare.

Sankranthi 2022 has ended up as a disappointment for Tollywood in two ways. We have seen big releases like RRR and Radhe Shyam get postponed. Bangarraju is the only notable release for Sankranthi and also this is the first in recent decades, the festive season ended up with no single hit.

With the movie losing its steam, we may see Bangarraju OTT Premiere very soon on Zee5.
