baahubali adopting to theater formUsually the episodes of Ramayana, Mahabharata and Bhagavata are chosen by the Yakshagana traditional theater form as script for dramatic production of the art form. However, after the humungous success of ‘Baahubali’ and it’s epic status, A Mangaluru-based Yakshagana artist is adopting ‘Baahubali’s story to the theater form.

The story and the characters of ‘Rajamouli’s magnum opus definitely has resemblances to epic characters in our Indian epics. The fantasy element is one thing which also adds to its charisma. It’s not a big surprise that the same story is going to be depicted in another form of art.

‘Baahubali’s Yakshagana adaptation is going to be made under the title ‘Gandugali Bahauball’. Besides the basic story, Devdas is going to give some comedy touch and action to the adaptation to make it suitable for theater watching. Conversion into a different form may lead to some more adaptations in different forms of art in future.
