At the most, ‘Baahubali 2’ was expected to collect Rs. 30 crores for the Hindi version. The opening day collection records for Bollywood films are with Shahrukh Khan, Aamir Khan and Salman Khan.
Beating all the expectations to collect Rs. 30 crores, the Hindi version of Rajamouli‘s magnum opus collected approximately Rs. 40 crores. This is indeed very huge for a film which has no Khans or Kapoors playing the lead. Barring Shahrukh Khan’s ‘Happy New Year’ (Rs. 44.97 Cr) and Salman’s ‘Prem Ratan Dhan Payo (Rs. 40.37 Cr), Prabhas’ film stands as the third best opening.
That means, ‘Baahubali 2’ was able to beat Aamir’s ‘Dangal’ and Salman’s ‘Sultan’ with regard to the openings, This is really huge and unexpected. ‘Baahuali 2’ released on a non-holiday unlike ‘Happy New Year’ and ‘Prem Ratan Dhan Payo’. Still it managed to be the biggest opening in many centers. Amazing!
