The target was clear for Avengers: Endgame from day 1, will it be able to become all time highest grosser ever? For that, it needed to better Avatar which has held on to the number 1 position from a decade.
In its opening week, Avengers: Endgame has shattered all the records left, right and centre across the globe. It grossed more than 1.5 billion in its opening week itself. The sensational and beyond imaginable performance has raised further hopes on the Marvel product to reach the number one spot.
Now, at the end of its second weekend, Avengers: Endgame is only one step away from becoming the biggest blockbuster ever. It has surpassed Titanic, released in 1997, to become the second biggest grosser of all time worldwide. For over two decades Titanic has held its spot, but it loses that to the mighty Avengers. In the process, the movie has also gone past 2 billion.
The next target is 700 million away. There is still enough steam left to make 500 million from the American and Chinese markets feel the trade. The rest of the territories will decide whether or nor Avengers: Endgame can surpass Avatar.
Meanwhile, in India, Avengers: Endgame has become the only Hollywood film to cross 300 Cr Nett. It has collected 313 Cr Nett approximately by the end of the second weekend. It is now sure to go past Sanju, but will it cross Dangal and 400 Cr mark need to be seen. If and when that happens, the top two highest grossing Bollywood flicks will be non-Hindi originals.
