Post the phenomenal success of KGF: Chapter One, Kannada cinema has been trying some big-budget mass movies targeted for pan-Indian audience. Here is another one such attempt named Athade Srimannarayana.
The first thing that catches us instantly is the duration of the trailer. It is more than 4 minutes. In the recent past, there has been no trailer at that length. However, it doesn’t matter once we are into the original content.
The idea is exciting of making a contemporary looking cowboy like police movie set in the village or mass set up. Everything is fictional, we get it, but somewhere the clarity goes for a toss regarding the timeline. We have to watch the actual movie to get a clearer idea, but the trailer might be mixing of the different period to add to the confusion.
It is also responsible for another issue with Athade Srimannarayana. The genre of the film is unclear as to what to expect. Ideally, this is fine, but here, the signs of the muddled narrative are visible. It is how focussed the makers drive out this would determine the success or lack of it. Right now, we are reminded of another Kannada film Rajaratham concerning the narrative. But we hope that Athade Srimannarayana doesn’t succumb to a similar problem.
Check out the trailer below. Rakshit Shetty stars in the title role with Shanvi Srivastava in the female lead. He is the ex-fiancée of heroine Rahmika Mandanna. His last film was Kirik Party that introduced the later. Athade Srimannarayana releases simultaneously in five languages on December 27.
