A true veteran and one of the senior-most producers in Telugu cinema, Ashwini Dutt is celebrating his 72nd birthday today. Right at the age of 25, Dutt produced his first film Eduruleni Manishi with Sr NTR.
With a career spanning close to 50 years, Dutt is one of the senior-most producers in Telugu cinema who are still active. He produced several blockbusters like Jagadeka Veerudu Atiloka Sundari, Choodalani Undi, Indra, and others.
He is an ardent follower of Sr NTR and made it a point to make his production debut with NTR’s film. That’s how Eduruleni Manishi happened. Vyjyanthi Movies’ emblem also has Sr NTR on it. Dutt later went on to work with other top Telugu stars like ANR, Krishna, Sobhan Babu, Krishnam Raju, Chiranjeevi and Nagarjuna.
Dutt is also a political personality. He had contested from Vijayawada Lok Sabha constituency on TDP ticket in 2004 and came second. He is known for his fearless stance in politics.
The senior producer is now mainly focused on his production ventures. His daughters, Priyanka and Swapna are actively producing films. They have produced hit films like Mahanati, Evade Subrahmanyam, Jathi Ratnalu, and recently Sita Ramam.
The biggest project yet from the prestigious Vyjayanthi Movies is Project K which has Prabhas, Deepika Padukone, Amitabh Bachchan, and others in the lead roles. This is also tipped to be one of the costliest projects ever in Indian cinema. This project is expected to establish Dutt’s production house on the global stage as he aims to give it an international release.
