With the Diwali festivities over its time to now look back at which film stands where at the Tamil cinema box office. For starters the box office winner this time is clear and it’s none other than Ultimate Star Ajith starrer Arrambam. The film opened with average talk but stardom of Ajith, coupled with the holiday season has given the film tremendous openings all over. With the success Ajith has bounced back from his Billa 2 failure.
The biggest disappointment of the season however was Karthi and Kajal starrer All in All Azhagu Raja. The trade had very high expectations from the film as it was directed by M Rajesh, the man behind some clean comedy entertainers in the past few years. Many felt that this would give strong competition to the Ajith starrer but the film has failed to even get decent openings.
Finally the third film Pandianadu starring Vishal has opened with very good review and garnered good talk as well. The film is expected to sustain well going forward and if it manages to retrain enough screens it could emerge a big success says the trade. On the whole unanimous verdict at the Tamil box office is that it’s a Thala Diwali.
