Nikhil scored the biggest hit of his career with Karthikeya 2. He has lined up a new film, 18 Pages for release on the 23rd of December.
Firstly, 18 Pages has picked a direct clash with Ravi Teja’s Dhamaka which is also releasing on the same day. Then, even Avatar 2 is releasing on same day. This film is going to be huge in domestic and global box office. All this will eat into the box office prospects of 18 Pages.
It was initially heard that 18 Pages was made for OTT release. After Nikhil delivered Karthikeya 2, the makers appear to be going for theatrical release. And also, it is too early for Nikhil to have another release after Karthikeya 2 which was a big hit and is still relatively fresh.
With Karthikeya 2 doing very well here and Hindi, the expectation will be high on this film. It will be interesting to see if makers will get greedy and dub this small film in Hindi to cash on Karthikeya 2 success.
All things considered, 18 Pages is in a tough spot now. That said, the film can indeed throw a surprise with Sukumar penning the story and screenplay. We should see if the film can do the job at the box office.
