YS Jagan - RGVA couple of days ago, AP CM YS Jagan said he is restricting cinema ticket prices in order to make them more accessible to the economically weak sections. This statement left many people puzzled.

Now, controversial filmmaker Ram Gopal Varma has thrown a logical punch at Jagan as he spoke about the cinema tickets issue.

“AP government says heroes are taking 70-80% of a film’s making cost. This is fundamentally wrong. The audience come to theatres to watch heroes. So their remuneration is an integral part of the making cost and the whole investment model.” Varma said.

“If you sell part by part, a Mercedes car might not even fetch 20% of its original price. It is the branding that attracts the buyers. The same is the case with heroes. Their stardom is the brand to their films.”

“How can cinema tickets have a preset pricing model? A few films are made on huge budgets, while a few are made on low budgets. How can the tickets for both these films be capped at the same price? Are two cars of different brands priced the same?” Varma questioned.

Social media is abuzz that YCP government should focus on reducing the prices of essential commodities like petrol and diesel rather than emphasizing on cinema ticket pricing. Varma has now made a similar point in his own style
