Nimmagadda Ramesh Kumar - Panacyath Elections NotificationEven as High drama is happening in Andhra Pradesh, Andhra Pradesh State Election Commissioner, Nimmagadda Ramesh Kumar released the schedule for the Panchayat elections which will happen in four phases. The first phase notification is also released.

On the other side, the Government is trying its level best to stall the elections. It has already approached the Supreme Court on the issue and it will come for a hearing tomorrow. Until then, the Government is trying to halt the process. The Panchayat Raj Office is locked from outside even though there are officials inside.

This is to ensure that they do not receive the notice of elections from the Election Commission. Tomorrow is anyway Sunday. The Government hopes of getting a favorable judgment from the Supreme Court on Monday and till then, the election work will not commence.

The panchayat raj officials also did not go to a meeting called by the SEC on Friday. On the other side, the employee associations favorable to the Government are protesting against the elections saying that they would not take part in the election duties citing the pandemic. The associations have also filed a petition in the Supreme Court asking the apex court to postpone the elections until they are vaccinated.
