This is not something that we witness often, in fact should say this is something that has never happened before and is a first of its kind of happenstance in Bollywood. A film headed by heroine has emerged as the biggest opener of the year.
The film is Kangana Ranaut starrer Tanu Weds Manu Returns and it has in its opening weekend collected little above 38 Cr. Add to it the overseas collections and the film becomes the biggest opening weekend earner of the year overtaking all the movies of top heroes.
The trade is also having great hopes on the film’s long run and is expecting it to emerge as the first 100 Cr Nett grosser starring a female protagonist in the lead. The major reason for this expectation is lack of a solid threat in the second week. If would surely be a landmark achievement for Tanu Weds Manu if it achieves it.
