Amaravati-capital

If the buzz in Political circles have to be believed, Amaravathi is being considered as the next capital of Andhra Pradesh. Earlier government thought of constructing capital between Vijaywada and Guntur and now is looking at the option of Amaravathi-Thadikonda-Achampeta-Mangalagiri stretch with Amaravathi as the center. Amaravathi is on the bank of Krishna river and the government wants to build four big bridges from there to other parts of the state connecting them to the state capital.

There is 10929 acres of Government and forest land in Amaravathi mandal. Similarly Tadikonda has 6982, Achampeta has 16327 acres which will make life easy for government in terms of land acquisition. However there is one problem for Amaravathi that is the menace of floods. Since Krishna river will be flowing between the capital city, government is waiting for expert opinion if something can be done to nullify the damage to the floods.
